Investigating photoluminescence properties of Ca-doped ZnS nanoparticles prepared via hydrothermal method

The structural, morphological and optical properties of pure Ca-doped zinc sulfide (ZnS:Ca) nanoparticles (NPs) prepared by hydrothermal method at different percentages Ca are reported herein. resulting NPs were characterized X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Raman scattering, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM) photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. XRD patterns confirmed the crystalline nature all doped showing a single phase cubic blende structure, whereas SEM micrographs showed sphere-shaped NPs. sizes as-prepared estimated TEM found to be in range 44–147 nm. PL emission spectra ZnS:Ca nanocrystals excited 400 nm consist broad band (420 nm–640 nm) two main contributions peaking 484 533 overall maximum intensity is for ZnS:3% with internal quantum yield 8.4%.
